Celebrating 15 Years of Service with Hollie Buus

Hollie Buus, a vital part of our Customer Service team in Calgary, recently celebrated a significant milestone – her 15th work anniversary. From catering to customer queries to exploring the wilderness of Alaska and ziplining in Mexico, Hollie’s journey with us has been as diverse and colourful as the experiences she’s collected along the way.

Mastering the Art of Customer Service

Hollie’s primary responsibility at Mustang is customer service, a role she fills with commitment and passion. She also takes care of daily reporting for specific customers and schedules deliveries and pickups. In essence, Hollie’s role is to ensure that every customer feels taken care of – and does it with warmth and efficiency.

Reflecting on her role, Hollie shares, “My job at Mustang is all about juggling various duties and staying on top of things. It’s a bit of everything from managing customer reports to arranging pickups. But amidst it all, the joy comes from ensuring our customers are well taken care of. There’s something so rewarding about seeing them satisfied at the end of the day.”

A Tale of Return 

Hollie’s journey with Mustang Freightways began in 1999. However, in 2006, she ventured away for a few years. But as fate would have it, her path led her back to the Mustang team. The strong connection she’d formed with Mustang and its people didn’t wane, as she was welcomed back with open arms.

“Leaving in 2006 was necessary at the time, but returning to Mustang was like coming back home,” Hollie reminisces. “Here, every day brims with life. We’re constantly on our toes, taking care of customers, and juggling a multitude of tasks. Sure, it can get a bit chaotic at times, but it’s the fact that every day is not the same that makes the industry we’re in so interesting,” she adds.

Toddler Tales 

While her dedication to work is unwavering, Hollie also knows how to enjoy her downtime. From co-raising her lively great-granddaughter to squeezing in time for a gripping novel or a trip to the casino, Hollie is a pro at striking the perfect work-life balance.

“Oh, don’t get me started on my great-granddaughter,” she chuckles, her eyes sparkling. “Between the diaper changes and keeping up with her, I’m always on my toes; however, I still manage to slip in a visit to the casino, now and then,” she adds.

Chronicles of a Globetrotter 

Travel is another passion of Hollie’s. She’s toured almost every U.S. state, thanks to her husband’s job as a long-haul trucker. Her travels have taken her from Europe to Australia, and from Fiji to Columbia, Panama, and Jamaica. She even tried zip-lining in Mexico a few years ago.

“Traveling opens your eyes. Every new place I visit, every culture I get to experience, it just broadens my world,” Hollie shares, with a gleam in her eye. “And zip-lining in Mexico? Oh, it was a heart-racing, thrilling ride that I won’t forget! I’m just so lucky to have seen and experienced so much in my life,” she concludes.

Celebrating 15 Years and Looking Ahead

Hollie Buus is more than a dedicated employee; she’s a treasured member of the Mustang team. As we celebrate her 15-year journey with us, we look forward to many more years filled with her tenacious spirit, and dedication to our customers. Thank you, Hollie, for being a part of our story.
