Operation Christmas Child 2024: The Impact in Numbers

In 2024, Mustang Freightways supported Samaritan’s Purse’s Operation Christmas Child by transporting thousands of shoeboxes as part of the 436,290 collected across Canada. Each one was filled with toys, school supplies, hygiene items, and personal notes that brought joy to children around the world. This marked the seventh year in a row that Mustang has been part of the initiative.

Moving Shoeboxes Across the West

According to the campaign report by Samaritan’s Purse, of the total collected across the country, 76,982 shoeboxes were transported through Mustang’s network in BC, Alberta, Yellowknife, and Whitehorse. Behind that number were drivers, dock teams, and planners making sure each load was handled with care. The work was the same as any other freight, but the meaning was different. Every box carried items that ended up in the hands of a child who needed them.

Grateful to Be Part of the Journey

For Mustang, the highlight of taking part is knowing that the work doesn’t end at delivery. Those shoeboxes found their way into classrooms, homes, and communities around the world, carrying reminders that kids are cared for and remembered. Being part of that chain, even on the transportation side, is something our team takes pride in year after year.

Looking Ahead

As the 2025 collection season approaches, Mustang is ready to once again play its part in keeping the shoeboxes moving. What begins with simple packing at Canadian homes will soon travel thousands of miles, and we’re proud to help make sure they arrive where they’re needed most.
