Mustang Freightways Teams Unite for a Successful Food Drive

At Mustang Freightways, giving back to our community is just as important as the work we do on the road. This year, we brought that spirit of generosity to life with a food drive at our Acheson and Calgary terminals, where our employees rallied together to support those in need. The fun twist we added made this drive even more special—a friendly competition for a pizza lunch on Pepperoni Pizza Day, on September 20th.

A Drive with Heart

The inspiration for the drive came from National Food Bank Day on September 6th, which got everyone thinking about how we could make a difference. Soon after, employees from both terminals started bringing in donations. Every donation, whether a single can or a whole bag of groceries, came from within our own Mustang family. The competition added some excitement, as teams were eager not just to win a pizza lunch but to make a difference in the lives of others.

Supporting Local Food Banks

The donations were collected for two local food banks. Our Edmonton terminal’s contributions went to the Parkland Food Bank, while Calgary’s team sent theirs to the Calgary Food Bank. Together, we gathered an impressive 355 pounds of food. What matters most isn’t the weight of the donations but the fact that each item will help put food on the table for families who need it.

The Real Win

While the pizza lunch will be a fun way to celebrate, the real victory is our Mustang teams’ impact on the community. This food drive was a reminder of the power of small acts of kindness when everyone comes together. We’re proud of our teams for showing such generosity and taking the time to support local families in need.
