Mustang Freightways Supports “Operation Christmas Child”

Mustang Freightways is glad to support Samaritan’s Purse: Operation Christmas Child (OCC). OCC, which started in the summer of 1993, delivers gift-filled shoeboxes to children worldwide. “This is Mustang Freightways’ 4th year partnering with Samaritan’s Purse. We’re very proud to be a part of this great cause,” says Mustang Freightways Sr. Business Dev. Manager, Kristin Link, when asked about the partnership.

Giving Back

“Mustang Freightways is always looking for ways to give back to our community and improve the lives of those in need,” explains Kristin. “We’re always ready to partner with organizations like Samaritan’s Purse, whose impact is far-reaching. We’re happy to play whatever part we can to help this year’s mission and put a smile on millions of kids’ faces worldwide!” she exclaims.

The Good Samaritan’s Mission

Since its inception, Operation Christmas Child has delivered shoeboxes to more than 198 million children in more than 170 countries and territories. “This year, we plan to collect over 425,000 gift-filled shoeboxes from individuals and groups across Canada. The shoeboxes will be delivered to children in need in 10 different countries,” says Jeff Locke, Operations Manager, Samaritan’s Purse Canada, talking about the goal of this year’s campaign. “All boxes are transported to our Calgary warehouse where over 10,000 volunteers come to help pack the shoeboxes,” he adds.

How We’re Helping

Mustang Freightways has dedicated a team to coordinate the pickups of shoeboxes across BC and Alberta. “We’re doing the pickups for Samaritan’s Purse. We have an operations team dedicated to coordinating the pickups and working with the volunteers to ensure things go smoothly on collection days,” says Kristin. “So far, we have picked up donations from 20 churches from locations in BC and Alberta,” she concludes.
