Kelly Baker Heads South

Kelly Baker has been with Mustang for five years. She came in through Customer Service at the Acheson terminal, moved into Inside Sales in 2023, where she built relationships across Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray and Red Deer, and continued to grow from there. Now she’s stepped into the role of Business Development Manager and relocated to Calgary to take on a new territory.

New Territory, Fresh Start

As the Business Development Manager, Kelly now covers Calgary, Medicine Hat, and Lethbridge. Taking on the territory meant relocating to Calgary, and for Kelly, that was part of the appeal. Being on the ground in the market means more time with customers, a better feel for what’s happening locally, and a real presence in the communities she’s there to serve. “My approach is to get out, meet people, and listen,” she says. “I want to understand how each customer’s business operates, what challenges they’re dealing with, and where we can help.”

She Earned Her Way Here

Every move Kelly has made at Mustang has built on the one before it. Since she came in, Kelly has spent time learning Mustang’s operations, understanding how freight moves, and figuring out what our customers actually need on a day-to-day basis. That foundation carried her into Inside Sales in 2023, where she took on Grande Prairie, Fort McMurray and Red Deer and started building the kind of relationships that keep customers coming back. “I’ve learned a lot from our customers, our team, and the industry along the way,” she says. “It feels like a natural next step.”

Building It From Scratch

For Kelly, strong relationships have always come down to the same things: communication, follow-through, and being available when it counts. That’s what she’s carried through every role at Mustang, and it’s what she’s bringing south. “One of the things I enjoy most about this industry is learning about different businesses and helping solve shipping challenges,” she says. “I’m excited to grow professionally and contribute to Mustang’s success.”
