How Mustang Freightways Ensures Safe Transportation of Dangerous Goods
Handling and transporting dangerous goods requires a high level of expertise and meticulous attention to detail. At Mustang Freightways, we pride ourselves on our rigorous safety protocols and commitment to delivering these sensitive shipments securely to our customers. Mustang Freightways is a fully accredited carrier that transports all dangerous goods except Class 7 radioactive material to all direct service points within Alberta and British Columbia.
Handling with Care
Proper handling is the foundation of safe transportation. Whether using a forklift, power walker, or manual jack, our team ensures that no containers, bags, or materials fall through the pallet or tote. This precaution helps prevent spearing accidents when lifting and moving the freight, minimizing the risk of spills or damage. Our drivers and warehouse staff, all certified and trained in handling dangerous goods, play a crucial role in this process. They undergo retraining every three years as Transport Canada requires to ensure continued competence and compliance.
Safety First, Always
Before accepting any freight, we inspect all packaging to confirm it is undamaged and in transportable condition. Compliance with Transport Canada Requirements is non-negotiable; all paperwork must be complete, and placards must be applied to trailers before loading. These placards are removed only when the last piece of dangerous goods is unloaded.
We ensure all personnel handling, packaging, or transporting dangerous goods possess a valid TDG (Transportation of Dangerous Goods) Card. These cards are renewed every three years to ensure competency in handling hazardous materials. In the event of a spill, our team refers to the Emergency Response Guidebook 2024 for precise instructions on safe cleanup, disposal, and first aid if the chemical comes into contact with personnel.
Ensuring Accurate Documentation
One of our biggest challenges is ensuring that shippers complete the DG (Dangerous Goods) paperwork accurately according to Transport Canada Guidelines. Incomplete or incorrect paperwork can lead to significant delays and safety risks. To combat this, we train our drivers to check the paperwork thoroughly for errors or missing information.
We rely on our customers to ensure all dangerous goods shipments are appropriately documented and packaged. Accurate paperwork and secure packaging are essential to prevent accidents and ensure regulatory compliance. By working together, we can guarantee the safe and timely delivery of dangerous goods.
Our Commitment to Excellence
Handling dangerous goods is a responsibility we take very seriously. Through rigorous training, meticulous handling, and unwavering adherence to safety protocols, we strive to deliver every shipment securely and efficiently. As we continue to improve and adapt to new challenges, Mustang Freightways remains committed to being a leader in the safe transportation of dangerous goods.
