Employee Spotlight: Miguel Hidalgo
Miguel Hidalgo joined Mustang Freightways in November 2016, starting in Weights and Measures. Over the years, he has grown into the Lead Hand for the PM shift at the Edmonton terminal, ensuring that operations run like clockwork. “My role is to make sure the dock flows smoothly,” Miguel says. “I focus on communication between shifts and teams so everyone is on the same page about what freight is coming in and where it needs to go,” he adds.
From Weights to Leadership
Miguel’s time at Mustang has been a journey of learning and growth. Each role he has taken on has given him a deeper understanding of how the terminal operates. “Every task I’ve worked on has taught me how all the moving parts fit together,” he shares.
Miguel has been directly involved in setting up many of the processes the afternoon crew and new hires follow today. His hands-on approach ensures the terminal runs efficiently while providing a solid foundation for new team members.
A Go-To Person for the Team
One of the things Miguel values most about his role is being a trusted resource for his peers. “It feels good to know my team feels comfortable coming to me when they have issues,” he says. He is especially proud of being someone his coworkers can count on for guidance and advice. For Miguel, building trust and fostering a supportive environment is key to creating a strong and effective team.

Drawing Up Time to Recharge
Outside of work, Miguel enjoys channelling his creativity. “I love to draw, watch anime, and play video games,” he says. Drawing, in particular, is a passion that helps him relax and recharge. It is a hobby that keeps him balanced and inspired. His artistic side often brings him joy, and he occasionally shares his work with others to connect and express himself.
Miguel’s Advice for New Hires
Miguel believes communication is the foundation of success. “If something bothers you, don’t just bottle it up or complain. Talk about it in a way others can understand,” he explains. “Come with a solution in mind and be open to listening. If you are not ready to hear others out, you are part of the problem,” he continues.
Miguel’s focus on teamwork, problem-solving, and clear communication have made him a valued member of the team, creating an environment where efficiency and collaboration thrive. Thank you, Miguel, for everything you do to keep Mustang moving forward.
